Cluster of Excellence Matters of Activity. Image Space Material

The aim of the Cluster Matters of Activity is to provide the foundations for a new culture of materiality in the sense of reinventing the analog in the digital age. The development of sustainable, energy-saving artefacts and techniques requires the inseparability of active images, spaces and materials through an interdisciplinary approach in which the humanities, natural sciences and design disciplines cooperate as equal partners. Experimental and design-oriented approaches will be combined with historical analysis in order to draw practical and theoretical consequences.

 

Job description: Scientific services in research within the project »Molecular Filtering« of the Cluster of Excellence Matters of Activity. The project »Filtering« will focus on essential physical mechanisms, symbolic dimensions, and cultural techniques or filtering as information processing ranging from the molecular to macroscopic scale.

Requirements: Completed academic education and excellent PhD in one of the following subjects relevant to the project (Physics, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, Biophysics or a related field); Further qualifications related to filtering techniques are desirable; above-average willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team; very good knowledge of spoken and written English.

The exposé should present a research project geared towards the research program of the project »Filtering«. It also has to make plausible which other disciplines should be involved in working on the project. The research program of the Cluster of Excellence can be accessed here.
